After realizing that her child’s needs were not being met in a suburban school district in New York, Bonnie Spiro Schinagle switched gears and engaged in an in-depth study of the IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act) and other laws protecting the disabled. In addition to academic work, Bonnie represented families in New York City at a not-for-profit organization.
If anyone is concerned about their child’s education, social or emotional functioning in school, Bonnie and her firm can help secure the child’s legal rights. Getting full protection under the law requires knowing which questions to ask, as well as the legal tools and resources that are available. Working collaboratively with clients, Bonnie and her team can help families secure the evaluations, services, special education and placements children need to make meaningful progress.
